Dynamic response of interacting one-dimensional fermions in the harmonic atom trap: The local mobility
The local frequency dependent mobility of one-dimensional interacting fermionic atoms in the harmonic trap is calculated using a phase operator formalism. A new resonance at the frequency of collective density excitations below Kohn’s mode is found. The extension to the case of two interacting components is also given.
متن کاملDynamic response of interacting one-dimensional fermions in the harmonic atom trap: Phase response and the inhomogeneous mobility
The problem of the Kohn mode in bosonized theories of one-dimensional interacting fermions in the harmonic trap is investigated and a suitable modification of the interaction is proposed which preserves the Kohn mode. The modified theory is used to calculate exactly the inhomogeneous linear mobility μ(z, z0;ω) at position z in response to a spatial force pulse at position z0. It is found that t...
متن کاملOne-dimensional non-interacting fermions in harmonic confinement: equilibrium and dynamical properties
We consider a system of one-dimensional non-interacting fermions in external harmonic confinement. Using an efficient Green’s function method we evaluate the exact profiles and the pair correlation function, showing a direct signature of the Fermi statistics and of the single quantum-level occupancy. We also study the dynamical properties of the gas, obtaining the spectrum both in the collision...
متن کاملQuantum magnetism in strongly interacting one-dimensional spinor Bose systems
Strongly interacting one-dimensional quantum systems often behave in a manner that is distinctly different from their higher-dimensional counterparts. When a particle attempts to move in a one-dimensional environment it will unavoidably have to interact and 'push' other particles in order to execute a pattern of motion, irrespective of whether the particles are fermions or bosons. A present fro...
متن کاملExact Normal Modes for a System with Three Luttinger Liquids Interacting in an Elongated Trap
We consider a system of spinless fermions in a nearly one-dimensional cylindrical trap, with the Fermi level such that only the lowest-lying states with angular momenta l = +h̄, 0, or −h̄ about the axis of the trap are occupied. We treat the particles in these states as comprising three separate Luttinger liquids, with the possibility for forward and backward scattering between them. We determine...
